What is Zumba?
Zumba is a PARTY! While other forms of exercise tend to become boring and routine, Zumba is an excellent way to get into tip-top shape while having a blast. Originally created by dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez, Zumba is a fitness program that uses dance themes to deliver a full-body workout. The program, which weaves elements of Latin and International music, alternates between both slow and fast rhythms. The result – a unique form of aerobic and interval training – helps build muscle tone and burn fat in target areas such as the legs, glutes, arms, abs, and more.
Although Zumba incorporates moves from various dance forms – including merengue, salsa, cumbia, mambo, samba, flamenco, reggaeton, hip hop, belly dancing, and more – students do not actually need a working knowledge of these styles in order to keep up, work out, and, most importantly, have fun. The classes feature easy-to-follow steps that will keep you moving, while hardly noticing that you’re getting an intense workout in the process.
